Every Sunday, during my morning cafecito (or yerba mate), I’ll share three powerful ideas transforming culture. Some ideas will be ads or about advertising. Some may be about design or fashion. Others will be about art, illustration, animation, motion, audio, cinema, books, or any other big idea worth sharing and discussing. You get the idea.

This week, three ideas that got stuck in my head. A Chicago classic that sells hunger without trying. A wellness brand reframing time. And a logo that finally feels like TV.

IDEA 1: Mr. Submarine

The best food ads don’t argue. They make you hungry. Mr. Submarine’s spots are pure appetite but also comedy gold. No VO, no manifesto — just craft and scripts doing the selling. I didn’t even know this brand existed until today, and now I want the sandwich. Great insight and execution. If you’re into this style, their YouTube channel has the entire campaign.

IDEA 2: Moon

A manifesto‑made TV ad. Voiced by none other than Rick Rubin. It’s a reimagining of “Goodnight Moon” for the high‑performance age—goodnight excuses, goodnight noise, goodnight everything that gets in the way. The athlete list is insane, but the tone stays intimate and authentic . That’s effective marketing, because now I want to try it.

IDEA 3: Apple TV

Apple just dropped what feels like the first anti‑AI ad (also, no CGI) to launch the new Apple TV logo and mnemonic. It’s Apple at their most Apple: hands, lenses, physical process, obsessive sound design. Watch the making‑of and BTS—this is craft as argument. You’ll see this intro a million times, and it’s a million miles from the old badge.
